What Makes the Vespin II Different From TOTO's Other Skirted Lines
The Vespin II is the skirted two-piece that also takes a Unifit rough-in, and that pairing is what separates it from most of TOTO's skirted models. The skirt gives the lower half a flat, continuous side wall instead of the molded S-curve of a conventional bowl, and the Unifit system means a drain at 10 or 14 inches does not take the toilet off your list. Is It Better to Get a One-Piece or a Two-Piece Toilet?
Neither is better outright — it depends on whether you care more about a seamless shell or about getting the fixture into the room and keeping it serviceable. A one-piece fuses tank and bowl into a single unit with no gap between them, but it is heavier to carry as one object. A two-piece arrives as a separate tank and bowl, which are easier to handle through a doorway or up a staircase, and it lets you replace an individual component later instead of the whole fixture. Vespin II vs Drake II
The Vespin II and the Drake II share the flush system and the glaze, and separate on the skirt and the rough-in. Both lines are two-piece and Universal Height, and their elongated models both use TORNADO FLUSH, CEFIONTECT and a computer-designed, fully glazed trapway. What the Drake II does not offer is a skirted base, or any rough-in other than 12 inches. The Drake II is also sold as a bowl and tank with the seat bought separately, while every Vespin II here arrives as a finished WASHLET+ set. How to Choose Your TOTO Vespin II
Choosing between the Vespin II sets comes down to three questions: what your rough-in measures, whether you want 1.28 or 1.0 gallons per flush, and whether the S7 or the S7A is the right seat. The bowl and tank are the same on all four, so nothing else about the toilet changes with your answer.
Start With Your Rough-In
Measure your rough-in first, because it is the one dimension that can rule a toilet out. Rough-in is the distance from the finished wall behind the tank to the center of the closet bolts at the base of your current toilet — measure to the wall rather than the baseboard, and use the back pair if your toilet has four bolts. The Vespin II is built for a 12-inch rough-in as standard, and TOTO offers Unifit adapters for 10 inches (TSU01W.10R) and 14 inches (TSU01W.14R), sold separately. Two things to know before you order: the adapter is fitted during installation and cannot be added afterward without lifting the toilet, and Unifit parts are series-specific, so an adapter from another TOTO line will not fit. 1.28 GPF or 1.0 GPF
1.28 GPF is the safe default and 1.0 GPF — TOTO's 1G — is the pick if you want to use less. Both are WaterSense certified and both are engineered around TORNADO FLUSH rather than around extra water; TOTO builds the 1.28 sets as MW4744726CEFGA and MW4744736CEFGA, and the 1G sets as MW4744726CUFGA and MW4744736CUFGA. The one caution worth raising is that very low flush volumes leave less margin in older plumbing, so if your drain run is long or shallow it is worth discussing before you commit to a 1G. WASHLET S7 or S7A
The S7A adds a touchless auto open/close lid; the S7 uses a SoftClose lid you open and close yourself. Past the lid, the two seats cover the same ground — heated seat, warm-air dryer, deodorizer, night light, EWATER+, PREMIST and a multifunction remote, with the cord and supply hose hidden by the WASHLET+ connection.
