Should you choose TOTO Nexus or Drake?

This is the widest price gap between any two TOTO floor-standing lines. A bare Drake is $482; a bare Nexus is $1,245. Even with an S7A washlet fitted, the Drake is $520 less.

You are not paying for a better flush. Both use TORNADO FLUSH with CEFIONTECT glaze and both are universal ADA height, so cleaning power and comfort are equivalent.

What the Nexus premium buys is the skirt. A skirted toilet hides the trapway behind a smooth ceramic panel, so there are no contours at the base to clean around. On a Drake the trapway is exposed and has to be wiped by hand.

Nexus also offers a one-piece, which Drake does not, and 1G models at 1.0 gallons per flush. Drake counters with 1.6 GPF versions for long or sloped drain runs, and a round bowl for tight rooms.

If budget matters at all, buy the Drake. If the exposed trapway bothers you or the toilet is going somewhere visible, the Nexus is the one that will keep looking clean with less effort.
