What Sets the TOTO Carlyle II Apart
The Carlyle II is the skirted one-piece that also takes a Unifit rough-in — a combination only a handful of TOTO lines offer, and the reason it turns up in remodels where the drain is not in the usual place. Every model in the line shares the same core: elongated bowl, Universal Height, CEFIONTECT glaze, TORNADO FLUSH, a concealed trapway and a chrome trip lever.
Skirted, and what the skirt changes
A skirted design encloses the trapway behind a flat, continuous side wall. There is no molded S-curve on the outside of the bowl to wipe around, which is most of the cleaning work on a conventional toilet. Combined with the one-piece body, which removes the tank-to-bowl joint entirely, there is very little surface left to trap dust. It is the same reasoning behind the rest of TOTO's one-piece toilets, taken a step further.
Universal Height and an elongated bowl, with no alternative
Universal Height puts the seat roughly 17 to 19 inches from the floor instead of the 15 inches of a standard-height bowl, which meets the ADA seat-height requirement and makes standing up easier. TOTO marks it with an F in the model number — the MS614124CEFG is Universal Height. There is no standard-height Carlyle II and no round-bowl version, so if you need either, a different series is the answer. Two flush volumes: 1.28 GPF and 1G
The Carlyle II is sold in a 1.28 GPF version and a 1G version at 1.0 gallons per flush. Both use TORNADO FLUSH and the same bowl; the 1G simply does it with less water. Both clear WaterSense, which caps a labeled toilet at 1.28 gallons, and both are legal in the states that have adopted 1.28 as the maximum for new installations. Very low volumes leave less margin in older plumbing, so talk to us about a 1.0 gallon model if your drain run is long or shallow.
TOTO Carlyle II vs Nexus
The Carlyle II and the Nexus differ most on rough-in, not on looks. Both are skirted one-piece toilets, but the Nexus is offered in 12 inch and 14 inch only — there is no 10-inch Nexus, by adapter or otherwise. The Carlyle II covers all three sizes through Unifit. If your bathroom measures 10 inches, that difference decides it. How to Choose Your Carlyle II
Choosing a Carlyle II comes down to three decisions: the rough-in your bathroom needs, the flush volume you want, and which WASHLET+ seat goes on top. Two decisions are already made for you — every Carlyle II is elongated and every one is Universal Height, so there is no bowl shape or seat height to get wrong.
Does the Carlyle II fit a 10-inch rough-in?
Yes, the Carlyle II fits a 10-inch rough-in, and a 14-inch one, using TOTO's Unifit adapter. The toilet ships as a 12-inch and the adapter (TSU01W.10R for 10 inch, TSU01W.14R for 14 inch) changes the outlet position. Three things matter here. The adapter is sold separately. It has to be fitted during installation — it cannot be added later without lifting the toilet. And Unifit part numbers are series-specific, so an adapter from another TOTO line will not fit a Carlyle II. Order the adapter with the toilet and it gets matched to your model. Which WASHLET+ Seat Pairs With the Carlyle II?
Four WASHLET+ seats pair with the Carlyle II in this collection — the S2, S5, S7 and S7A — and they climb in features rather than in cleaning power. WASHLET+ means the bowl is drilled and shaped so the power cord and supply hose run concealed behind the skirt instead of trailing to the wall.

The Carlyle II is made in Cotton White, Colonial White, Sedona Beige, Bone and Ebony, though an individual WASHLET+ set may not be offered in all five. Cotton White is the cool, bright neutral and the default on most models; Colonial White has a cream cast that reads warm next to a modern basin.
